"The Londoner Magazine was started to display the wonderful talent of artists who have a connection with the city of London.
We want to celebrate these connections that our artists have with London and display them in the form of imaginary covers in homage to the amazing covers of The New Yorker , The Parisianer and The Tokyoiter.
Each month a new cover will be released along with an artist's story and profile on what their particular approach for their cover design was. We are interested in work from artists all over the world, but the one rule is they are making art based on experiences, viewpoints and connections they have with the City of London, Good or Bad!
The Londoner Magazine was started by commercial artist Sharm Murugiah in 2017 after producing a piece of work celebrating Tooting, an area of London where he works and lives."
I was invited to create artwork for May’s edition. I chose to focus my illustration on The Royal Wedding which was a hot topic in London during May. The cover is a contemporary take on the wedding, showcasing the phone and social media as our modern symbols of framework, with a subtle not to the estimated cost to taxpayers.
